MYLAPS will bring 2-way communication to the track with X2 Link. X2 Link wirelessly communicates with vehicles on the track over radio frequency. Data flows both ways: the X2 Transponder installed in the vehicle sends official race data to the system. The system immediately converts this data into official race data such as lap time and position and more. This data is then sent back to the vehicle through radio frequency, and the onboard display in the vehicle will display all sorts of vital race information – such as position in the race, gap between vehicles in front and behind and number of laps.

New benefits to the world of racing

The X2 System and X2 Link provides new features to everyone who's involved in racing. Race tracks, timekeepers and federations get a more stable system with detailed track information and racers get to access live race data, which can be published to racer's own on-board displays.


  • Automatic upload to

    The X2 system automatically uploads practice data to a personal MYLAPS account on

  • Supports multi-loop setups

    A multi-loop set-up makes sector timing at the track possible. Race data can be segmented for each sector, allowing racers to focus and improve on specific parts of the track.

  • One system for all sports

     With the X2 system it is possible to time all motorized sports, like car, motorbike, kart and MX racing*. This makes it possible to expand timing services to other markets.

  • 2-way communication

    X2 Link will bring 2-way communication to the race track: data is not only transmitted from the X2 transponders to the X2 system, but it will be possible to send vital race data back to the racer, which is displayed through their own on-board displays.

  • Track analysis & remote control

    The X2 system offers insight to system performance. Diagnostics can be accessed and controlled remotely when connected to the Internet via the X2 Cloud. Timekeepers are able to set-up and monitor the system from everywhere: a perfect solution for checking in on free practice runs and race days.

  • HD Timing

    With the HD Decoder, timing gets even more reliable. The HD Decoder works with a digital signal, which reduces the noise levels.

  • Live timing

    X2 enables live timing which makes it easier to broadcast real-time race data. Data can be published on displays on the track, on websites or via mobile apps and third party applications.

  • Develop custom apps

    A Software Development Kit is available with the X2 system, which enables developers to build custom applications.

  • Remote support

    The X2 system is characterized by the high build quality and ease of use. Still, issues may occasionally occur. When connected to the Internet, online support via the X2 Cloud is at hand.


With the full X2 set-up installed to the vehicles, racers get access to 2-way communication including live race data onto their current on-board display. More information on X2 Link will follow soon.

System components

The X2 system introduces a completely new way of timekeeping and race data management. The system consists of the following components:


  • X2 Server

    The X2 Server is the beating heart of the system. All components are connected to and controlled from this core device.

  • X2 Decoder

    An X2 Decoder collects data from the detection loops which capture the signals that are sent via the X2 transponder.

  • Orbits 5 Software

    The system runs on top-notch software, based on the well-known Orbits software: Orbits 5. Orbits 5 is dedicated for X2, but third party software is also available.

  • X2 Cloud

    The X2 Cloud collects and back-ups race data from X2 systems connected to the Internet. The X2 Cloud also offers access to the Software Development Kit.

X2 Link works with the X2 System. X2 Link consists of several parts; the BaseLink, LoopBox and the HD Decoder. Vehicles are required to have a MYLAPS X2 Transponder Direct Power installed with a valid subscription, as well as the X2 RaceLink add-on, and an onboard display that is supported to receive data.

  • X2 LoopBox

    The LoopBox is the permanent link between all trackside infrastructure. It connects to the detection loop, the BaseLink and to the X2 Server in the timing room.

  • X2 BaseLink

    Permanently installed at the start/finish line, the X2 BaseLink is the system’s antenna. It sends and receives data to and from vehicles on the track through radio frequency communication.

  • X2 HD Decoder

    The new X2 HD Decoder sets a new standard. It provides tracks with a digital signal, which reduces noise levels. The new decoder also provides power to the LoopBox and the BaseLink.

  • X2 RaceLink

    All vehicles on the track install the X2 RaceLink antenna. This antenna receives the signals which are sent from the BaseLink and sends these signals to the onboard display in order to show race data.
