4 National Records at first timed 5K race

After what felt like forever, this weekend we finally got back to timing a race at the 5K Seven Hills Test Run where not one but four national records were broken!

The race, helt in Nijmegen – the Netherlands, was organized as a test race by the Seven Hills Run Foundation to test the start-procedure where athletes had to stay at 1,5 meters distance from each other. For several National and International runners this was the perfect opportunity to test their abilities in what was the first time to compete in several months.

Four National records were broken

And with great success! Four national records were broken: Mike Foppen set the new 5K Dutch record at 13.31 minutes and Ouassim Oumaiz was even faster and finished the 5K in a new Spanish record of 13.19 minutes, only a second above the European record and enough for the win! Next to that the Zwedish (Hlynur Andresson) and Icelandic (David Nilsson) national records were broken as well.

Successful Test Run

As for the test, the organizers were very happy with the tested start-procedure as well as the results. They wanted to test how athletes would respond to the assigned spots before the start and seperating coaches and fans around the parcours.

Finally timing a race again

At MYLAPS we were happy to finally get back to timing a race after these past months where everything was shut down. We took the opportunity to test some innovations like a new decoder for ProChip that will be released soon and is a great fit for timing pro running races amongst other sports.
