Exciting February full of active goodness!

Another jam-packed month full of active goodness! In February we saw athletes run up buildings, new world records being set, and warriors jumping over fire.

What an awesome event organized by NYCRUNS and timed by Nova Timing: Empire State Building Run Up! Athletes from all over the world wearing the MYLAPS BibTag climbed 1,567 steps of stairs all the way to the 86th floor.

On the men’s side, Frank Carreno only needed 10:50 minutes to reach the top. While defending champion Suzy Walsham needed 2 more minutes and 6 seconds to reach the top and be crowned the female champion.

Hannibal Race 2018

The PUMA Hannibal Race is an obstacle racing series with different types of courses, one based on speed and the other on endurance. This time the Urban Edition took place in Beirut, Lebanon, and these warriors took it upon themselves to run, jump, crawl their way over multiple obstacles and through mud to make it to the finish line.

All of the warriors wore the MYLAPS MultiSports Tag around their ankles. The MultiSports Tags are waterproof and specially developed for mud runs and triathlons.

Kaohsiung MIZUNO International Marathon

The last weekend of February finished strong with the Kaohsiung MIZUNO International Marathon in Taiwan. All the runners could be followed live in the EventApp, and had their images taken with PhotoVideo.

Kenyan runner Charles Kigen Kimutai won the men’s marathon event by completing the 42.125 kilometer-long race in 2 hours,17 minutes and 40 seconds. He Yinli from China took the victory in the women’s marathon race with a time of 2:42:24.

IAAF World Indoor Championships Birmingham

The World Indoor Championships timed with MYLAPS ProBib by Seiko saw some amazing feats from athletes all around the world.

A surprise world indoor record for Poland, a third world indoor title for Renaud Lavillenie, and a hometown hero taking gold were among the final highlights of the IAAF championships.

 

World Sprint Speed Skating Championships

The championships were held at the Jilin Provincial Speed Skating Rink in Changchun, China.

Jorien ter Mors (NED) won the women’s whilst Håvard Holmefjord Lorentzen (NOR) won the men’s overall World Sprint crowns.

The timing of the speed skaters was done with the MYLAPS ProChip.

 

Track Cycling World Championships

The UCI Track Cycling World Championships presented by Tissot and timed by ProChip were hosted in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands.

The Netherlands ended the 5-day World Championships on top of the medal table, winning 12 medals in total. Germany and Great Britain completed the  top-3 of the table, both winning 6 medals.
