Timing a race, whether it’s a small race on the local track or a professional cycling race or triathlon, is a challenging task. You only want the best equipment with the highest read-rates and the best accuracy. The MYLAPS ProChip decoder is the beating heart of the system. It receives passing times from the detection loop and translates this into data the software can work with.
The detection loop is connected to the decoder. This decodes the received signals into the athletes ID and records (lap) times to the millisecond. The maximum distance between the detection loop and the decoder is 100 meter (330ft) which can be covered by a high quality coax cable. The Prochip decoders are available in 2 versions; The standard Prochip decoder (RED) and the Portable Prochip decoder (Yellow)
The Prochip decoder sends this data to the timekeeper’s computer. The decoder has a built-in practice mode that allows automated uploads of practice results to the internet, without the need of a timekeeper.
Portable ProChip decoders are housed in a sturdy Pelican Case. This makes them easy to carry to any event, and fully weatherproof. The decoder weighs around 10kg and when fully charged it will function for over 15 hours: long enough to deal with triathlons.
Attached to the detection loop, it decodes the transponder signal into the runner’s ID at the exact time at which the runner crossed the time line. The table-top decoder needs to be attached to an external power source.

The ProChip Flex can be used for many different types of sports. They come with ankle strap for use at triathlons, swimming and more. When used at cycling events it is recommended to mount the ProChip FLEX on the bicycle’s front fork, as close as possible to the front axle, by using cable ties.
