Athens Marathon. The Authentic has 2,500 years of history. This year the event celebrated its 120 years of Marathon, with races spread across 2 days, finishing inside the iconic Panathenaic Stadium. Over 3,000 volunteers helped the races for 30,000 runners this year due to Covid restrictions. Our timing partner Nikos Polias (All About Running) was the first runner to carry the Marathon flame from the tomb to Marathon start! Besides, Nikos and his team went on national radio about the event and managed many side projects next to timing the event.
The official distance of the marathon is 42,195m in honour of the Greek soldier who walked from Marathon to Athens.
The setup was the following for the races:
Marathon A: 5200 with 8 Blocks (8*650)
Marathon B: 5200 with 8 Blocks (8*650)
